Here I am in Early February and I thought it appropriate to announce to all 10 of you that care, not including my wife or parents, that I will be busy on May 7, 2011 with "B" race el numero doc. OK, please excuse the lame spanglish lingo. I've decided on the 33rd annual Strolling Jim 40 Mile Run as a second "B" race for 2011 leading up to TRT100. However, I will attack this race in a different way as compared to Stage Race in June. At SJ 40, other than using this as a training opportunity, I do have a specific goal in mind; that is, one of overall time... that being sub 5hrs. Yep, I want me one of them yeller shirts. On a more serious note, a sub 5hr 40 miler is ambitious, but it is a 40 mile road race as opposed to trail. So, I think with proper preparation, along with everything working on race day, it's a somewhat realistic goal. Another reason for choosing this ultra is that of practical logistics. SJ 40 is in Bedford County Tennessee which is around a 30-40 minute drive from Franklin Tennessee. All this being said, I think this will be a tremendous opportunity for me to get a great and demanding speed session in 10 weeks out from TRT 100.
PEACE
ain't no strollin about that pace plan my man!!!

ReplyDeleteYou guys are warriors! If you need a "water boy" or someone to yell "you can DO it!" like the overly enthusiastic Canjun character played by Rob Schneider, let me know!
